How Data Management enhances compliance with GDPR

Large companies generate large volumes of data, that is a fact. Whether they are information from customers, transactions, vendors or partners, digital or not, all the time this data is entering and turning into information. Spreadsheets and simple documents are no longer enough to store and handle this volume, neither dedicate employees specially for this function, since people are not able to treat and sanitize large volumes of data efficiently.

A well-established Data Governance strategy results in competitive differential and operational efficiency in the organization, generating accurate reports, solid and reliable bases for decision making and data quality assurance. It is also possible, among other things, to closely manage product and customer data, catalog and unify inventory information, and enforce compliance with internal and external rules and regulations.

Data Governance and GDPR

By making compliance with legislation as specific and thorough as the General Data Protection Act, the organization has the primary benefits, such as protection against fines, penalties and penalties that are set by organizations that do not fit and the ability to provide easily to the user their rights. However, it is also possible to have control of all customer data, since they will be unified, sanitized and organized on a platform that does not require coding and that can be easily understood by all users.

Compliance with the law is not optional, is mandatory, and has its initial date in August 2020, a year and a half from today. Most of the organizations operating in Brazil, other than those operating in Europe and have already complied with GDPR, are not familiar with the standard, transiting and storing large amounts of customer data in various systems and spreadsheets, often without lots of order.

A Data Governance strategy is able to unify this data, keeping everything in a single application, even if coming from different systems, making possible to all users, each with their access permission, to view and interact with the information, either for the purpose of seeking a report to present at a meeting or to fulfill a request from a client.

Data challenges are found in all organizations and are result from many problems, but it is possible to solve most of them with the organization and efficiency that the adoption of the Data Management strategy offers.
